To establish a sense of local ownership and support for the FIRST WARD REVITALIZATION STRATEGY, the City of Binghamton wants to engage neighborhood residents and stakeholders throughout the planning process. As such, the main reason for this website is to provide an accessible venue that interested residents and stakeholders can use to participate in the planning process.

So, how can you get involved?

A summary of each of the completed involvement opportunities can be found below.

Project Kick-Off & Visioning Meeting

The first public meeting will introduce the project and identify a vision for the community. SPRING 2014

Design Workshop

The Design Workshop will allow residents to map out how they want the First Ward to look in the future. SUMMER 2014

Presentation of Draft Report

The final public meeting will present the draft plan to the community and gather additional comments on the plan. FALL 2014

Public Meeting Summaries

A brief summary of each public meeting can be found below.

The Public Visioning Workshop was held on Tuesday, February 18th and included a presentation that explained the BOA Program and presented key findings about the First Ward, followed by an interactive visioning exercise. The meeting concluded with announcements about the Design Workshop to take place in June and opportunities for the public to stay involved in the project by taking the online survey and visiting the website for regular updates.

Public Visioning Workshop Presentation

The Neighborhood Design Workshop was held on Wednesday, August 13th. The purpose of the workshop was to engage the community in the conceptual design and physical layout of the First Ward study area. The workshop began with a brief update on the First Ward Revitalization Strategy, followed by an interactive Community Character Survey, concluding with a small group design session to provide opportunities for more detailed discussion.
